McKaylee Polk Named MACCC Softball Player of the Year

Polk, Gabby Dickerson also earn First Team All-MACCC

JACKSON - Two of the most dominant players in Northwest softball history have been recognized for all-conference accolades, the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC) announced on Tuesday morning.

Infielder McKaylee "K.K." Polk earned MACCC Player of the Year honors, while also being named First Team All-MACCC. Additionally, pitcher Gabby Dickerson was also selected for First Team All-MACCC honors, marking the second time that both players have been chosen for all-conference recognition.

A native of Senatobia, Polk shattered nearly every offensive record during her two-year Northwest career. The Memphis signee leaves Northwest with the all-time best batting average (.461) and career records in home runs (42), runs batted in (123), total bases (305), walks (45), slugging percentage (1.034) and on-base percentage (.540).

Polk also finished second in numerous other categories, such as career doubles (35), hits (136), runs scored (106) and games played (95). As for the 2023 campaign, she batted .554 with 24 home runs, a 1.339 slugging percentage, a .647 on-base percentage and 27 walks, all of which became new single-season records.

Polk also finished second in a single season for doubles (19) and runs batted in (60). She finished third in base hits (70) and runs scored (55), while earning MACCC Player of the Week honors four times during the span of her career, including three accolades this season.

In the circle, Dickerson capitalized off last season's second team all-conference selection, rewriting the record books during her time in Senatobia. The Olive Branch native leaves Northwest as the program's all-time leader in strikeouts (376), wins (41), innings pitched (319.1), appearances (63), while finishing second and third in shutouts (10) and complete games (28).

This season, Dickerson compiled 137 strikeouts and a 15-4 record in the circle, including four games with 10 or more strikeouts. The Christian Brothers University signee also pitched nine complete games with two shutouts.

Both players helped Northwest and coach Chelsea Bramlett to a 32-11 overall record this season, marking back-to-back 30-win seasons for the first time in program history. Dickerson and Polk are two of four Rangers heading to the four-year level next season, joining pitcher/shortstop Allyson Harrison (Delta State) and pitcher Kylee Brown (Freed-Hardeman).
