Northwest Softball Remains in Top Five

Rangers close out season with three ranked opponents

CHARLOTTE - After a 3-1 week that included a close loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast, Northwest remains in the top five of this week's NJCAA Division II National Rankings, checking in at No. 5 overall.

Northwest (30-4, 19-3 MACCC) remains the highest-ranked MACCC team in the polls, as the Rangers face three nationally-ranked teams on the road down the stretch, beginning on Monday at No. 18 Itawamba. Northwest will then travel to No. 9 Pearl River on Friday, April 28 and seventh-ranked Jones College on Tuesday, May 2.

Other MACCC or Region 23 programs in this week's rankings include Copiah-Lincoln at No. 8 and LSU-Eunice at No. 13. Additionally, Parkland and Spoon River, two teams defeated by the Rangers earlier this season, rank third and 20th, respectively.

Murray State College (Okla.) remains atop the national rankings at 46-0, followed by Louisburg College (N.C.) at No. 2 and South Mountain (Ariz.) in fourth.
