FULTON - Both itawamba and Pellissippi State put Northwest on the ropes, but the Lady Rangers prevailed in a pair of five-set thrillers on Friday afternoon, earning the season sweep against ICC and picking up the win in the first-ever meeting between Northwest and Pellissippi State.
Kaley Rikard combined for 24 kills across both matches, followed by 22Â from
Jacia Hayes.
Layla Dyer totaled 87 assists, including a career-high of 49 in the win against Pellissippi State.
Kailey Gooch also added nine combined blocks, as Northwest ran its record to 23-16 on the season.
Next up for Northwest is a Saturday road match at Freed-Hardeman JV, scheduled for 11 A.M. on October 21. From there, the Lady Rangers will close out the regular season at home with three straight matches against Henderson State JV (October 22) and Sophomore Night on Tuesday, October 24 against Freed-Hardeman JV and John Melvin University.
