SENATOBIA - Northwest led early and often in Tuesday's 3-0 victory against Williams Baptist, improving to 3-0 on the young season.
Northwest led 11-6 in the opening set and pulled away for a 23-11 advantage down the stretch. The Lady Eagles picked up two more points, before the Lady Rangers closed the door for a 25-13 decision.
Williams Baptist got the early lead in the second set, but the Lady Rangers would turn a 7-3 deficit to a narrow 9-7 margin. From there, Northwest reclaimed the lead and earned a 25-17 win, stretching the match lead to 2-0.
Northwest built a 15-6 advantage midway through the third set and despite a small rally from the Lady Eagles, the home team still prevailed with a 25-17 score, winning the match in straight sets.
Freshman
Micah Swift once again showed out for the Lady Rangers, earning 14 kills, three blocks and three digs.
Kennedy Smith also finished with nine kills, while the duo of
Lia Ramos and
Brinley Steed came away with 14 assists apiece.
Freshman
Kailey Gooch also posted a team-best four blocks in the win, while
Kayla Beal and
Cristen Cleveland totaled eight digs each.
Next up for Northwest will be a four-match slate in this weekend's Chattanooga State Tournament. The Lady Rangers will take on Fayetteville Tech at noon on Friday, followed by a 2 P.M. match against No. 7 Heartland.
