Ryan Lee Named NJCAA Second Team All-American

CHARLOTTE - Just weeks after earning MACCC Player of the Week accolades, Northwest catcher Ryan Lee has earned second team All-American honors from the NJCAA, the organization announced on Monday morning.

Lee, who also earned All-Region 23 honors last month, quickly developed into one of the conference's most powerful hitters at the plate. The Cleveland, Tenn. native finished his Northwest career with a .402 batting average, 12 doubles, 16 home runs, 52 runs batted in and a .902 slugging percentage, leading the Rangers in all the aforementioned categories.

Lee leaves Northwest ranking fourth in single-season home runs, third in slugging percentage, tied for fourth in runs scored (58), sixth in walks (35) and tied for ninth in both RBIs (52) and total bases (119). Additionally, he fielded .975 with 245 putouts and six runners caught stealing.

Lee is the program's first NJCAA All-American since Ben Van Cleve in 2019. All-time, Northwest has had 17 players earn NJCAA All-American status, excluding NJCAA All-Academic honors.

Northwest concluded the 2022 season at 26-24 overall, marking the 27th straight 20-win season, dating back to 1995. It was also the 15th straight winning season for the Rangers and the 13th straight postseason appearance. The 2022 campaign also wrapped up the 17th year as head coach for Mark Carson, moving his all-time record to 479-315-2 (.603) and his conference record to 253-134 (.654).
