Inclement Weather Halts NJCAA Region 23 Tournament

Northwest to play Saturday at 4 P.M. vs. Northeast

WESSON - Inclement weather plagued most of the Magnolia State throughout the day on Friday, leading to the suspension of Friday's NJCAA Region 23 Tournament slate.

Northwest, which sits at 2-0 in the winner's bracket, was awaiting the outcome of an elimination contest between Copiah-Lincoln and Northeast to determine the Rangers' next opponent. That game was suspended with two outs in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the Lady Wolves were looking to cut into a 3-1 lead held by Northeast.

After a nearly four-hour delay, tournament officials made the decision to pause all competition until Saturday. This includes the elimination contest between Jones College and LSU Eunice as well, which was scheduled to take place prior to the Rangers' contest.

As of early Saturday morning, Copiah-Lincoln and Northeast are scheduled to resume at 12 P.M. on Saturday, with the elimination contest between Jones College and LSU Eunice scheduled to take place 30 minutes following the conclusion of the Co-Lin/Northeast matchup. The Rangers will then compete around 5 P.M. on Saturday against the winner of Co-Lin and Northeast.

Remaining games, primarily the tournament championship contests, will be played on Sunday with times TBD. All contests can be watched on https://colinathletics.com/general/live_stream.
