Rangers Drop First Loss of the Season

Box Score WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. - Scoring came early and often for National Park College on Friday evening, as Northwest fell behind early and never truly caught up in a 92-79 loss at the ASU Mid-South Greyhound Classic.

Northwest was buried in a 10-3 deficit early in the first half and the margin only grew, as the Nighthawks built a 24-12 advantage with 10 minutes remaining. By halftime, the Rangers trailed 47-29.

National Park wasted no time regaining the momentum to start the second half, continuing to build a comfortable margin. Although Northwest ended up outscoring the Nighthawks 53-43 over the course of the second half, the Rangers were unable to fully recover.

Marquavous Jones led Northwest with 12 points, finishing as the only Ranger in double digits. Terry Joyner and Devin Moore earned nine points apiece, with Moore falling just shy of a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Northwest shot 39 percent from the floor, compared to a 53 percent shooting effort from National Park. The Nighthawks were also 41 percent from beyond the arc, compared to 29 percent from Northwest, and 81 percent from the free throw line against just 41 percent from the Rangers.

Now 1-1 on the season, Northwest will look to bounce back this afternoon at 2 P.M. against event host ASU Mid-South. The game will be streamed live here and tickets can be purchased online for $7, via ASU Mid-South. (Admission cost rises to $10 at the gate)
