CHARLOTTE - After successfully defending its unbeaten record with a 2-0 road victory at Hinds, the Northwest Lady Rangers have jumped up four spots to No. 13 in the latest NJCAA Division II rankings.
Northwest previously checked in at No. 17 in the NJCAA polls last week, which marked the highest ranking ever attained by the program. The Lady Rangers were also tabbed No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches rankings.
Northwest has been led by several key pieces on this year's roster, starting with leading scorer
M.J. Loeffel, who has nine goals on the season. Her 13 career goals now rank 10th in program history, while teammate
Ally Bailey has risen to a tie with Abby Morales (2014-15) for sixth with 19 career goals and six on the season.
Jennifer Enriquez remains tied for third among Division II players with eight assists. The two-time MACCC Player of the Week and Las Cruces, N.M. native is just two ahead of
Molly Rose, who has six assists on the year with four goals, two of which were scored in the Lady Rangers' most recent victory at Hinds.
Joining the Lady Rangers in the national rankings include Jones College, which has slid up a spot to No. 2, dropping Holmes to No. 6. Northwest and the Lady Bulldogs will face off in Ridgeland on Friday, Sept. 24 at 5 P.M.
East Central rounds out MACCC representation at No. 12 nationally, while Mississippi Gulf Coast and Itawamba are receiving votes.
Next up for Northwest (7-0, 2-0 division) is a home showdown with Itawamba, scheduled for Wednesday, September 22 at the Senatobia Sports Park. The match with begin at 1 P.M. and will be streamed on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch) and Facebook Live.
