Lady Rangers Earn Season Sweep Against Hinds

SENATOBIA - A scoreless, but aggressive, first half eventually gave way to a strong second half for Northwest, as the Lady Rangers earned a 2-0 triumph against Hinds on Friday afternoon.

Northwest improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the MACCC North Division, inching one step closer to obtaining the program's first postseason berth since the 2017 season. With the loss, Hinds dropped to 0-10 and 0-7 in division play.

Northwest fired off 15 shots in the first half, including nine on-goal, but Hinds did just enough to keep the Lady Rangers off the scoreboard for the first 45 minutes.

In the 60th minute, the Lady Rangers finally broke the ice, thanks to a Molly Rose throw that landed in the right spot for Miranda Loeffel, who tapped it in for her second career goal.

Less than five minutes later, Northwest struck again with a Logan Tomlinson goal and an Isabelle Cardenas assist, for what would turn out to be the game-winning score.

Northwest outshot Hinds 29-7 in total shots and 18-4 on-goal. Ally Bailey led the Lady Rangers with six total shots and three on-goal.

Maggie Olive collected four saves in nearly 73 minutes of action, before passing the baton to Trinity Baynham, who finished out the final 18 minutes.

Northwest will travel to Itawamba on Tuesday, May 11 for the final regular season road trip. Kickoff is slated for 1 P.M. in Fulton, with coverage details to be announced later.
