SENATOBIA - Sophomore striker
Ally Bailey netted three goals and two assists for her first career hat trick, as Northwest rolled to a 5-2 victory against Meridian on Thursday afternoon.
Bailey scored the first goal off a deflection from the opposing goalkeeper just four minutes in and later connected with
Miranda Loeffel on another goal less than five minutes later, giving the Lady Rangers a 2-0 advantage.
Meridian chipped away at the lead with a goal from Anna Card in the 30th minute, cutting the Lady Rangers' lead to 2-1 at halftime. It didn't take long for Northwest to strike back to open the second half, as Bailey found
Molly Rose in the 47th minute, giving the freshman her third goal of the season.
In the 59th minute, Northwest gained more breathing room, as
Hayley White connected with Bailey in the box for a 4-1 Lady Rangers' lead.
After Tania Garcia's corner kick drifted into the net in the 69th minute for Meridian's second goal, Bailey put the match away for good with a goal off a free kick with less than 10 minutes left.
Northwest finished with 28 total shots, including 21 on-goal, while the Lady Eagles were held to just 13 shots.
Maggie Olive collected four saves in 69 minutes of action and
Trinity Baynham followed with two saves of her own in the final 22 minutes.
With the win, the Lady Rangers improved to 2-1 overall and concluded non-division competition. Northwest will open division play at East Central on Monday, April 12 at 1 P.M.
