Box Score SENATOBIA - Playing in its second match in as many days, Northwest sent its sophomore class out with a bang on Saturday, sweeping Itawamba 3-0 at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest wasted little time pulling away from ICC in the first set, as the Rangers eventually cruised to a 22-12 lead before ending the set with a 25-16 score.
Northwest continued its momentum into the second set and pulled away for a 25-17 victory. Itawamba led several times in the third and final set, only for the Rangers to rebound for a 25-22 decision and a three-set sweep.
For the second time in the last three matches,
Kapria Manning recorded a triple-double of 14 digs, 13 kills and 11 assists.
Alexia Davis also added 13 digs and 10 assists, followed by 12 digs and nine kills from
Julissa Soto.
Several other Lady Rangers dotted the stat sheet, including
Taylor Smith and
Sydney Sides, as both players respectively posted 13 and nine digs.
Kamryn Conner also finished with a team-best 20 digs, while Manning,
Chariah Mabry and
India Jeffries combined for 14 blocks.
With the win, Northwest improved to 5-10 on the season and 1-1 against the Lady Indians. Itawamba fell to 5-2 on the year, as the loss also kept the Lady Rangers with a winning home record (3-1).
Northwest will pay a visit to Bevill State on Thursday, March 11 at 6 P.M. The Lady Rangers will be aiming for a season sweep of the Lady Bears, who fell in a pair of 3-0 finals on February 13.
