It took one less set for the Lady Rangers to clinch the match against Coastal Alabama-East, as Northwest ran its all-time record to 2-0 against the Lady Warhawks.

Northwest came out strong in the opening set and held off a rally from the Lady Warhawks to secure a 1-0 match lead.

Despite taking an 11-6 advantage early in the second set, Northwest fell victim to another surge from Coastal Alabama-East, as the Lady Warhawks rallied to tie the set at 15-all.

From there, both teams struggled to pull away until the very end, when the Lady Rangers finally gained the two-point lead needed to win the second set.

Coastal Alabama-East continued its newfound momentum into the third set, where Northwest fell behind 3-0 in the early goings. The Lady Rangers battled back, but never fully recovered as the Lady Warhawks denied a shutout for Northwest.

Both teams battled once more in what would become the final set, as Northwest watched its 17-11 lead evaporate into a 23-23 tie. Much like the first meeting between the two programs however, the Lady Rangers came through in the clutch, capturing the final two points of the set to clinch the match.

Northwest finished with 57 team kills, led by 13 from Julissa Soto and 11 from Allison Greene. Chariah Mabry also earned 10 kills to finish in double digits, followed closely by nine from India Jeffries.

Soto also led the Lady Rangers with three aces and Kapria Manning finished with 45 of the team's 54 total assists.

(Set scores: 11-25, 15-25, 10-25)

Despite a hard-fought second set between both teams, the experience of Wallace State-Hanceville proved to be too much for Northwest to overcome, as the Lady Lions earned their second victory over the Lady Rangers in straight sets.

Wallace State-Hanceville put its foot to the pedal in the third and final set, opening up a 12-1 lead on the Lady Rangers.

Although three consecutive points helped spark a mini-run for Northwest, the Lady Lions closed out the match by earning three of the final four points to clinch the match.

Northwest is scheduled to face Wallace State-Hanceville one more time this season in a Sunday, February 21 neutral-site match in Fulton.
