Box Score GOODMAN - Road struggles continue for the Northwest men's basketball team this season, as the Rangers dropped an 82-59 decision at Holmes on Thursday evening.

Northwest fell to 2-3 on the season with the loss and remained winless in games away from Howard Coliseum. The Bulldogs improved to 2-2 with the win.

Northwest started the game with a 10-6 advantage, but the Rangers were quickly overtaken by the sharp shooting of Kaleb Higgins, who capped off the night with a whopping 40-point performance for Holmes.

Holmes took a 44-29 lead at halftime and outscored the Rangers 38-30 in the second half, as Northwest had no answer for Higgins.

DeAntoni Gordon finished with 15 points and seven rebounds for Northwest, while freshman Jaylon Sanders posted a career-best 16 points. 

In addition to Higgins' 40 points, Brandon Weatherspoon finished with 13 points and eight boards for the Bulldogs. Olanrewaju Olayinka also led Holmes with 12 rebounds.

Northwest shot 39 percent from the floor and 20 percent from three-point range, while Holmes shot 47 percent for the contest.

A pair of home contests lie ahead for Northwest against Mississippi Delta and East Mississippi, the first stretch of back-to-back home contests. The Rangers and Mississippi Delta will square off on Monday, February 8 at 6 p.m., while the Rangers and Lions will meet for the second time this season on February 15.
