SENATOBIA - February has not been kind to Northwest athletics so far.
Due to continued conditions resulting from Thursday's ice storm, Friday's softball games scheduled against Lincoln Trail College and Wallace State-Hanceville in Booneville have been canceled. Northwest isn't scheduled to compete again on the diamond until next weekend at the Rush Invitational in Meridian.
Baseball has also been axed for Saturday, February 13, as the Rangers were slated to face Holmes in a non-conference twinbill at Jim Miles Field. Northwest will look to reschedule that matchup while preparing for a Wednesday, February 17 road date at Itawamba.
Inclement weather has indirectly affected indoor sports as well. After its Thursday road trip to Pearl River was postponed due to travel concerns, the Northwest volleyball program has also shuffled Saturday's scheduled matches. The Rangers will now host Bevill State in a doubleheader at 11 A.M. and 1 P.M. at Howard Coliseum. Both matches will be streamed at

In a pair of non-weather related schedule changes, the Rangers have rescheduled a volleyball road match at Itawamba for Wednesday, February 17 at 6 P.M. and a women's basketball contest against Northeast on Saturday, February 27 at 1 P.M.
Several chances for winter weather are expected late Sunday through Thursday of next week, but so far, no postponements or cancellations have been announced. Northwest officials will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend and into next week. Further updates will be provided on Twitter (
