Coahoma Edges Northwest in Saturday Matinee

Box Score SENATOBIA - Northwest picked up double-digit scoring efforts from Tierra Trotter (16 points) and Maura Nunley (14), but the Lady Rangers fell on the wrong end of a tough 72-70 battle against Coahoma on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams traded baskets from the opening tip to the final buzzer, with neither team leading by more than five until the fourth period.

Tied at 20-20 late in the first period, Northwest got two jumpers from Cailey Walker and Jamia Chambers to end the quarter with a 24-20 advantage. Coahoma quickly responded, eventually regaining the lead by five midway through the second quarter.

Northwest led 38-37 at the end of the first half and the two teams remained locked back and forth throughout the third quarter, when the Lady Tigers led 60-57. The two squads traded leads until the final minute of the contest, when Coahoma went up 72-70 in the final seconds.

Elishia Wilson led all scorers with 17 points for Coahoma, while Brayland Ferguson added 14 for the Lady Tigers. 

Northwest fell to 5-3 with the loss, while Coahoma improved to 6-0 overall. The Lady Rangers will return to action on Monday, November 29 against Arkansas State Mid-South for a 5:30 P.M. tipoff at Howard Coliseum.
