Northwest to Face Itawamba in Region 23 Play-In Match

Winner to face Pearl River for Region 23 Championship

FULTON - With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Northwest volleyball squad will have one last shot at making a postseason run in just its second year of existence.

Northwest will travel to Itawamba on Wednesday, October 27 for a 6 P.M. match against the Lady Indians. The winner will advance to the Region 23 championship at Pearl River on Saturday, October 30 to battle for the rights to represent Region 23 in the NJCAA playoffs.

Itawamba is the No. 2 seed in the region following last Friday's 3-1 loss to top-seeded Pearl River. Northwest will enter the match against the Lady Indians as the No. 3 seed in Region 23.

Northwest is 1-4 all-time against the Lady Indians, dating back to the spring 2021 season. The Lady Rangers' lone victory came on March 6 in a 3-0 decision, which forced a winner-take-all region tiebreaker match for the rights to advance to Florida. That matchup resulted in a 3-1 loss for the Lady Rangers.

This season, Northwest is 0-3 against Itawamba, with the last meeting resulting in a 3-1 loss earlier this month. The Lady Rangers sport a 14-18 overall record, while ICC sits at 17-10 on the season.
