Northwest Baseball Slides to No. 9 in NJCAA Rankings

CHARLOTTE – Following a 3-1 week that included a split against Columbia State and a pair of wins against Southwest Mississippi and Baton Rouge, the Northwest baseball team has slid up one spot from 10th to No. 9 in the latest NJCAA Division II rankings released Monday afternoon.

Now 5-1 overall, Northwest is one of five MACJC programs ranked and one of six from the NJCAA's Region 23, led by LSU Eunice at No. 1 nationally. With a 4-2 start to the season, Pearl River topped all MACJC programs at No. 4 in the nation, followed by a tie at No. 7 for Hinds and Itawamba.

After a 9-1 start to the season, Northeast rounds out MACJC representation with a ranking of 12th nationally. Jones College dropped from the rankings after previously checking in at No. 19 in last week's poll.

Northwest will try and bolster its resume this week with a single nine-inning contest against Wallace State-Hanceville on Tuesday and a four-game series with Olive-Harvey College this weekend.
