Lady Rangers Roll to 69-50 Win Against Mississippi Delta

SENATOBIA – In one of the best overall performances of her career, sophomore Claire Fleming's 13 points and seven rebounds helped lift Northwest to a 69-50 victory against Mississippi Delta on Tuesday evening.

Northwest improved to 10-5 on the season and 3-2 in MACJC North Division play while the visiting Lady Trojans dropped to 5-10 and 1-3 in division competition.

Trailing 11-2 with 3:29 left in the opening quarter, Northwest closed the final three and a half minutes on a 6-0 run to trim the gap to three, 11-8.

Northwest trailed for most of the second quarter but took its first lead of the night with Fleming's three-pointer with 55 seconds left in the first half.

In the second half, the hot hand belonged to the Lady Rangers as Northwest embarked on an 18-4 run to extend its lead to 43-27 with less than four minutes to go in the third.

Northwest led by double figures the rest of the way with 13 being the closest margin that Mississippi Delta could pull within during the course of the final eight minutes.

In addition to Fleming's performance, Zanaiyah Daniel finished with a team-leading 14 points, along with five assists and four rebounds.

Sabreya Lee led all scorers with 17 points for Mississippi Delta, while Antanisha Wade totaled 14 points and eight rebounds.

Northwest finished the evening with 52 percent shooting and 63 percent from three-point range. 

Northwest will set its sights on Thursday evening's battle at Holmes at 6 p.m.
