SENATOBIA – Freshman forward
Ally Bailey helped Northwest erase a 1-0 deficit with a pair of goals in the second half, making the ultimate difference in a 2-1 Lady Ranger victory against Mississippi Gulf Coast on Sunday afternoon.
With the win, the Lady Rangers improved to 2-6 on the season while the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-6-1 overall.
Gulf Coast delivered the first blow 15 minutes into the match with Megan Brown's goal from Hannah Helms, the only score of the first half.
Less than five minutes into the second half, Bailey delivered the tie with the help of
Isabelle Cardenas and quickly followed that up with a successful penalty shot in the 54th minute, providing the Lady Rangers all they would need for the first home victory of the season.
Neither offense dominated the final shot tally with Gulf Coast edging out the Lady Rangers 10-9 at the end and 7-5 on goal. Freshman
Trinity Baynham collected six saves in her first career victory.
Northwest will have an extended break before traveling to Meridian on Saturday, Sept. 21, facing off against Columbia State at 4 p.m.
