Gordon Tabbed All-MACJC, All-Region 23

JACKSON – Northwest sophomore guard and Nicholls State signee Jitaurious Gordon has been selected First Team All-MACJC and NJCAA All-Region 23 as voted upon by the league's 15 head coaches, it was announced Monday.

"Jitaurious has had a really good two years here at Northwest," head coach Shane Oakley said. "It's always great to see someone that has put in the time and effort on their game like he has get rewarded with such an honor."

Gordon is the first two-time all-conference selection for the Rangers in 20 years, the last being LaTaryl Williams and Marcus Hicks during the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons.

He had a fantastic two-year career for the Rangers and a breakout encore season in which he averaged a league-best 20.6 points per game and scored in double figures in all but one game.

The Horn Lake product shot 48 percent from the floor and team-high 35 percent from beyond the arc. He added 91 assists and 51 steals, both team-highs.

As a freshman, Gordon was a Second Team All-MACJC nod after averaging 14.3 points, 2.8 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game. He was also selected to compete in the JUCO Report Top 100 event in Atlanta during the offseason.

Northwest finished 34-14 overall and 16-8 in MACJC play in his two seasons, winning the north division and finishing 12th in the final NJCAA poll his freshman year.

Gordon prepped at Horn Lake, averaging a team-best 26.2 points per game his senior year and filling up the stat sheet with 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.7 steals a game while shooting 53 percent from the floor. He finished with over 1,000 points for his career, was a two-time All-Region 1-6A selection and feted by nearly a dozen Division I schools.
