BOONEVILLE – After earning his first collegiate victory during a career-best outing of 6.1 innings and seven strikeouts, Northwest sophomore left-hander Jake Tyrone has garnered MACJC Pitcher of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Tyrone allowed two hits and didn't surrender a run in a 2-0 win against Northeast last week, as the Rangers swept the Tigers at Jim Miles Field.

In four appearances this season, Tyrone has compiled a 2.33 ERA with 25 strikeouts against 11 walks. This comes after the Olive Branch native pitched just 10 innings during his freshman campaign.

Northwest will hit the road for its first conference doubleheader of the season on Wednesday, March 27 as the Rangers face East Mississippi. Live video and stats for that game will be available through nwccrangers.com.
