Fowler, Stinnett Ink with Division I Programs

SENATOBIA – At least two Northwest baseball players will continue their careers at the Division I level after signing during the NCAA's November early signing period on Wednesday.

Pitchers Dalton Fowler and Parker Stinnett inked with Oklahoma and Mississippi State respectively, becoming the first two Rangers to sign from this year's club.

Finishing his freshman campaign at 6-2 with a 3.76 ERA in 13 appearances, Fowler became one of the hottest names throughout NJCAA baseball in 2019. Originally an Ole Miss signee, Fowler delivered a team-best 88 strikeouts against 43 walks in 64.2 innings of work. The Arlington HS product chose to return to the Rangers despite being selected by the New York Mets in the 27th round of the 2019 MLB Draft.

Fowler is the first Northwest baseball player to sign with Oklahoma or any program in the Big 12 Conference.

Stinnett is another strong arm returning from last season's Region 23 Tournament team, coming off a stellar freshman campaign that yielded a team-best 2.74 ERA, 7-3 record and four complete games. The Oxford HS product struck out 82 batters against 43 walks and held opposing batters to a meager .181 batting average. Stinnett will be joining former teammate Tanner Leggett in Starkville.

Both rising sophomores add to a long list of Rangers to play Division I baseball. Click here for a full list.

Northwest will throw out first pitch of the 2020 season on Tuesday, Feb. 11 against Southwest Tennessee at Jim Miles Field.
