COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - Despite striking first on
Logan Tomlinson's second career goal, the Northwest women's soccer team surrendered four goals in a 4-1 road loss at Southwest Tennessee on Friday evening.
Tomlinson scored less than 10 minutes into the match off a feed from
Katelyn Rock, but Southwest Tennessee delivered the tying response just over a minute later, as Anna Trotter scored off a corner kick.
Tied at 1-1 at halftime, the home team quickly pulled away in the second half with goals in the 53rd and 64th minutes, pushing the Lady Rangers into a 3-1 deficit.
A final goal in the 89th minute added insult to injury as Southwest Tennessee came away with the 4-1 win.
Northwest was outshot 20-9 overall and 10-8 on goal. All three goalkeepers saw action for the Lady Rangers, with
Trinity Baynham and
Jakeria Wilson splitting time in the second half.
Northwest closes the 2019 campaign at 3-12 overall.
