Northwest's 2018 Baseball-Softball Media Guide Earns National Award

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – Northwest's Baseball-Softball Media Guide has placed second nationally in the 2017-18 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) annual Publications and Digital Designs Contest, the organization announced at its annual convention last week in Washington, D.C.

The 126-page publication (click here to view) was written and edited by ninth-year SID Kevin Maloney and fourth-year assistant SID Brian Lentz. Cover design and printing was provided by Service Printers, Inc.

There are over 50 categories across the board in the annual CoSIDA Publications Contest, with every program at every level having the opportunity to receive recognition for their work.

"Brian and I want to be the best in the state at everything we do," Maloney said. "Whether that's publications, social media, graphics, highlight videos, whatever, we want to be the trendsetters in the MACJC. Not getting first place just means we have to work that much harder in 2018-19. We're always hungry, never satisfied."

Christopher Newport's tennis guide took home top honors in the multi-sport college division category.

In addition, Northwest's 2017 Football Media Guide also placed second in the sports media guide category junior division at the annual College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) conference in Ridgeland.

Maloney has now received 13 national awards by CoSIDA and 16 from CPRAM for his work with publications, social media and print media over the last decade. Fifteen of those have earned first place recognition.
