BOONEVILLE – Helping Northwest to a 3-1 week with a sweep at rival Northeast and split at East Central, freshman outfielder Hayden Leatherwood has been named the MACJC Player of the Week.

Leatherwood hit .467 with two doubles, four home runs, eight RBIs and seven runs scored while slugging 1.400 on the week. He's now reached base safely in 20 straight games.

Leatherwood has homered in seven of his last eight games and ran his season home run total to 15, just two shy of tying Northwest's single-season record set by Eduardo Pena and Marcus Van Every in 1999.

On the year, the former Vanderbilt signee is hitting a team-high .391 with eight doubles, three triples, 15 homers and 45 RBIs. He's slugging a team-best .927 with a team-high .489 on-base percentage.

Northwest will host Gulf Coast May 10-11 at Jim Miles Field in a best-of-3 NJCAA Region 23 Playoff Series.
