Miles Washington Signs with Texas-Permian Basin

ODESSA, Texas – Miles Washington, a 6-foot-8 forward from Northwest, has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at NCAA Division II University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

"Miles is a very good basketball player that has a huge upside," Northwest head coach Bubba Skelton said. "I think you'll hear big things about him at Fort Smith, one of the top programs year in and year out in Division II. He's just as good of a person, if not better, as he is a player."

The New Albany native averaged 7.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game in his lone season in Senatobia. His 33 blocks led the team and ranked fourth in the MACJC.

A 2018 MACJC All-Star Game participant, Washington scored in double figures in eight games, including a career-high 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting with seven boards in an 83-80 win over division-rival Northeast.

Washington appeared in six games as a walk-on for Ben Howland's Mississippi State Bulldogs in 2016-17 before transferring in for his sophomore season at Northwest.

He played for head coach Robert Burduett at New Albany High School, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds as a senior to earn Region 2-4A MVP honors. Washington was also selected for the 2016 NEMBCA All-Star Game and was a two-time Hotbed Classic Player of the Game selection.
