All-MACJC Forward Therrell Gosier Inks with Alabama State

SENATOBIA – Northwest sophomore and first team all-conference forward Therrell Gosier II has signed a basketball scholarship to attend Alabama State University.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound product of Pompano Beach, Fla., averaged 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season, while adding 37 assists and 30 blocks. He shot 51 percent from the floor, scored in double figures in 17 games and posted four double-doubles.

"I'm very proud of Therrell and what he's done for us the past two seasons at Northwest," head coach Bubba Skelton said. "I think ASU picked up a great player that will make an immediate impact for their program. He's a consistent player and versatile guy that can do a lot of different things well on the court."

Gosier attended Mullen's JC Top 100 Camp in Wichita, Kan., this summer, a premier invitation-only showcase of some of the nations' top junior college basketball prospects, and was feted by numerous Division I schools before inking with ASU.

Gosier played in all 23 games and served as the Rangers' sixth man as a freshman. He averaged 10.6 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds, while shooting a team-best .571 from the floor. He had three double-doubles on the season, including a 27-point, 13-rebound performance against Itawamba.

Prior to Northwest, Gosier played at Blanche Ely High School and helped the Tigers to a 28-1 record and FHSAA Class 7A State Championship his senior year. He averaged 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game, had 11 games with 20 points or more and scored a season-high 31 points in a playoff game vs. Lake Worth.

Gosier also played football for Blanche Ely and had offers from numerous FBS schools, including Miami, Clemson, Alabama, Kentucky and West Virginia.
