GOODMAN – For the first time this season and just the second time of her career, Northwest sophomore pitcher Harley Smith has earned MACJC Pitcher of the Week honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Smith is the first Ranger to receive MACJC Softball Player of the Week honors this season.

In a pair of victories at Copiah-Lincoln and against Holmes last week, Smith was 2-0 with a 0.44 ERA in two eight-inning complete game wins. She allowed just one run in 16 innings, striking out seven against three walks.

A native of Lake Cormorant, Smith recently became only the seventh 20-game winner in school history. She's 8-8 on the year with a 2.13 ERA and has won her last four starts.

Northwest sits at 15-13 overall and 7-9 in the MACJC heading into Tuesday's doubleheader at Northeast.
