BOONEVILLE – After fanning a career-high nine batters in an 8-1 win at Southwest Tennessee last week, sophomore left-hander Ian Hawkins has been tabbed the MACJC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Hawkins tossed five solid innings, scattering three hits, a run, three walks and nine punchouts to lift the Rangers to a game one victory over the Saluqis. Northwest won game two 12-2 for the sweep.

On the year, Hawkins has won all three of his season starts, allowing just five earned runs in 14.2 innings of work with a team-high 18 strikeouts and 3.07 ERA.

Northwest is currently 10-4 and riding a six-game winning streak. They'll welcome No. 19 Pearl River to Jim Miles Field on Saturday, March 17 in the MACJC opener for both teams.
