SENATOBIA – Copiah-Lincoln used a 26-7 advantage in the second quarter to pull away from Northwest for a 70-47 win Tuesday night at Howard Coliseum in the MACJC Tournament Quarterfinals.
Co-Lin improved to 21-3 with the win, while Northwest fell to 13-10.
Tied at 12 apiece minutes into the second quarter, Co-Lin used a 24-2 run on 7-of-10 shooting to pull ahead comfortably 38-17 at the half.
Neither team shot the ball well the opening 20 minutes, with Northwest held to 20 percent and the Lady Wolfpack shooting 33 percent.
Northwest's shooting woes continued in the second half, as the Lady Rangers missed six of their first eight shots and fell behind by 27.
The lone bright spot on the night was the Lady Ranger bench, who outscored the starters 34-13.
Shelbi Buford had 15 points on 5-of-8 aim from 3-point range and
Abbreanna Miller added 11 points and nine boards.
Alexus Holt led Co-Lin with 19 points, followed by a double-double (12 points, 14 rebs) from Karry Callahan and 10 points from Kyeonia Harris.
The Lady Wolfpack were 19-of-25 from the free throw line, while Northwest only went to the line seven times and made four.
Via a coin flip, the Lady Rangers have advanced to next week's NJCAA Reg. 23 Tournament at Mississippi College in Clinton. Northwest will face 5th-ranked Jones County on Wednesday, March 7 at 3 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
