Radarius Washington had a career-high 20 points and 14 rebounds,
Tremont Robinson added 19 and Northwest led for the entire second half in a 74-67 win over north division foe Itawamba Monday night at Howard Coliseum.
Northwest improved to 14-2 overall, 5-1 in the MACJC North and 9-0 at home, while Itawamba dropped to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in division play. The Rangers have now won six of the last eight in the series.
The team's exchanged four ties and seven lead changes in the opening half and were deadlocked 38-38 at intermission.
Itawamba shot 54 percent behind Brian Halums' 16 points and eight boards and Northwest shot 42 percent behind 11 from Robinson and eight from
Therrell Gosier II.
Robinson's steal and dunk to start the second half put the Rangers up 40-38 and they would never trail the rest of the way.
Northwest strung together a 12-2 run to extend the lead to 10 with 16:52 to play, using buckets from Robinson, Washington and
Cameron Walker.
ICC battled back to within 63-61 with 6:15 to play on a Halums layup, but the Rangers countered with the next five points to push ahead 68-61 and salted away the game at the free throw line.
Washington showed out with 16 of his career-high 20 points in the second half to lift the Rangers to a third straight win. Robinson finished with 19 points, seven assists and five steals in addition to 12 points and eight boards from Gosier.
Halums paced ICC with 24 points and 14 rebounds in addition to Joshua Greer with 12.
