COLUMBUS – The 11th-ranked Northwest men's golf team posted its third consecutive Top 5 finish at the EMCC Invitational this past weekend at Lion Hills Country Club.

Northwest shot a 623 over two rounds and finished fourth behind first place Copiah-Lincoln and runner-ups Gulf Coast and Meridian.

"We played good on the front nine but were really weak on the back," assistant coach Guy Purdy said. "We were strong from tee to green but just couldn't make any putts and that's what hurt us."

A pair of Rangers finished in the Top 20 of the field, with Heath Newsom carding a 151 to finish tied for eighth and Cameron Foster finishing in a tie at 14th with a 153.

J.T. Moffitt (158), Devon Thomas (161) and Tanner Powell (164) placed 25th, 32nd and 38th, respectively.

Northwest will compete in the MACJC Championship, hosted by Co-Lin, on April 9-10 at Wolf Hollow Golf Club in Wesson, Miss.
