JACKSON – After helping lead Northwest to a 14-9 record and its fifth MACJC Tournament appearance in the last six seasons, sophomores Keelin Jackson and
Dante Sterling have been tabbed as second team selections to the 2016-17 All-MACJC Men's Basketball Team.
After starting 11 contests as a freshman, Jackson became an everyday starter in all 23 games for the Rangers in his sophomore campaign. He averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season, scoring a career-high 19 points at East Mississippi and finishing with his only career double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) on Dec. 1 against Missouri State-West Plains.
A native of Clarksdale, Jackson concluded his two-year Northwest career by averaging 8.7 points and 4.9 rebounds in 48 career games, adding 93 assists, 49 steals and 35 career blocks.
In his only season in a Northwest uniform, Sterling became a key component of the Rangers' offense this season. The transfer from Northwest Florida State started in 16 of the team's 23 contests, averaging a team-best 14.5 points and five rebounds per game. He also chipped in 49 assists and 29 steals while leading the team with 54 made three-pointers.
Sterling scored in double figures in 15 games, including a career-high 34 points in a November 2016 contest. He finished the season with a total of 109 rebounds, good for third on the team.
