COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After his efforts in sweeps over Southwest Tennessee and Lake Land College last week, freshman designated hitter Baron Davies has been named the MACJC and NJCAA Division II Baseball Player of the Week.

The MACJC Player of the Week accolade is his second this season, also winning it the week of Feb. 5-11.

Davies had a remarkable week, going 6-for-10 with five home runs, a double and 14 RBIs in three games. His weekly slugging percentage was an unheard of 2.200.

The Southaven product, who hit just one home run in his high school career, has hit six in his first nine games in a Ranger uniform. He's hitting .421 on the young season, with all eight of his hits going for extra bases.

Northwest is off to an 8-2 start and will close out a 12-game homestand on Thursday against Calhoun.
