BLUE MOUNTAIN – Trailing 22-21 after a quarter at Blue Mountain JV, Northwest rallied to outscore the Lady Toppers by 22 in the second quarter and cruised to the finish with an 82-62 win Tuesday night.
Northwest improved to 4-3 overall with its third straight win, while BMC JV fell to 0-6.
The Lady Rangers' full court press gave the Lady Toppers all sorts of trouble in the second quarter, as Northwest built a 49-28 halftime lead by outscoring them 28-6 in the period.
Kayla Bradley closed with a game-high 21 points, doing most of her damage in the first half.
Destiny Gaylor, who scored a career-high 14 on 6-of-11 shooting, got hot in the second half and scored seven straight at one point as Northwest built its lead well over 20.
Northwest continued to pound it inside the second half, with
Abbreanna Miller finishing with a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.
The Lady Rangers closed the night shooting 43 percent and had 29 assists on 36 made field goals. BMC shot 34 percent for the game.
BMC was led by double-doubles from Monesha Pegues (14 pts, 11 rebs) and Kyle Massengill (14 points, 10 rebs).
Northwest will host East Mississippi on Monday, Dec. 4 in the north division opener for both teams. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
