Northwest Drops 76-54 Decision at Arkansas Baptist

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Baptist jumped out to a 13-point first quarter lead and outscored Northwest by 19 in the second half to run away with a 76-54 win Tuesday night.

ABC improved to 3-14 on the season, while Northwest dropped its second straight to fall to 6-3 overall.

Despite a sluggish start, Northwest rallied with an 11-0 run to start the second quarter and took a 24-23 lead thanks to five quick points from Chrissah Shaw and a pair of 3-pointers from Janesha Johnson and Averyale Joy.

The teams exchanged baskets the ensuing four minutes before a three-point play by Jazsmine Nelson in the waning seconds gave the Lady Buffaloes a 35-32 at half.

ABC never trailed the rest of the way, outscoring Northwest 41-22 in the second half for a lopsided win.

Northwest shot 32 percent from the floor and also struggled from the free throw line in making just 14 of 32 attempts. ABC shot only 36 percent for the night but dominated in the paint and capitalized off 23 Lady Ranger turnovers.

Joy was the lone scorer in double figures for Northwest with 14 points. Shaw added eight points and eight rebounds. Essence Johnson led ABC with 19 points and 11 rebounds in addition to Desi Mosley's 17.

Northwest will step back into north division play on Thursday, hosting Northeast (6-6, 1-0) at 5 p.m. Bryan Fenley will have the call on nwccrangers.com/watch.
