DECATUR – The division-leading East Central Lady Warriors were just too much for the visiting Lady Rangers on Friday afternoon, building a 5-0 lead at half and cruising to an 8-0 win.
ECCC improved to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the division with the win, while Northwest dropped its third straight match to fall to 2-7-1 and 0-5-1.
Six different Lady Warriors combined for the eight goals, with TaNissa McNair scoring a pair. Sierra Maness added her team-leading 14th goal of the year, while Kayla Young netted her first of the season.
After allowing five first half goals, Northwest made a change in net with defender
Micah Rhea taking over for
Ivy Cook. Rhea had six saves in 45 minutes and allowed three more goals.
ECCC out-shot the Lady Rangers 29-7 (19-2 on goal) and drew eight corner kicks against none for Northwest.
Sierra Lasher and
Lauren Snyder combined for six of the Lady Rangers' seven shots in the match.
Northwest will return to action next Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. against Holmes at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
