EUNICE, La. – In arguably the toughest four-team field in NJCAA Region 23 Baseball Tournament history, Northwest will face the tall but rewarding task of advancing out of the bracket to make its first NJCAA World Series appearance since 2007.
Top-ranked Hinds (41-5), the MACJC regular season and postseason champions, will open the tournament against No. 17 East Mississippi (29-16) on Thursday, May 14 at 3 p.m. Northwest's (32-15) reward for finishing as state runner-up is getting to play four-time national champion and 2nd-ranked LSU Eunice (41-9) in its home ballpark at 7 p.m. Thursday night. The Rangers, ranked 18th in the NJCAA, are making their 24th regional tournament appearance and third in the last five years.
The tournament is a four-team, double-elimination field with games at 3 and 7 p.m. each night. The tournament will run Thursday-Sunday, May 14-17 at Bengal Field in Eunice, La., with a capacity crowd expected.
