COLUMBUS – A 16-stroke improvement over the final 18 holes wasn't enough to overcome an opening round 310 as Northwest finished in seventh place at the MACJC State Championship to close the 2015 season.

Gulf Coast shot a six-under 570 to top East Mississippi by 10 strokes and claim the state championship. Meridian (591), Copiah-Lincoln (592) and East Central (595) rounded out the Top 5.

Northwest's 604 edged out Itawamba, Northeast and Jones.

Alan Larson fired a 75-74 to finish in a T18 with his lowest total of the season. Hayes Carr finished in a T24 with a 77-74, followed by Alex Taylor in 28th (79-73) and Scott Hensley (79-75) and Trey Wilkinson (81-73) in a T29.
