Rangers Rout Coahoma 111-83 in Road Finale

CLARKSDALE – Northwest scored the game's first 17 points and never looked back in a convincing 111-83 road win over Coahoma Thursday night at The Pinnacle.

Northwest evened its season record to 10-10 overall and moved to 4-7 in the north, while Coahoma dropped to 1-19 overall and remained winless in division play.

Five Rangers finished in double figures, led by LaJustin Anderson's season-high 20 points off the bench in just 16 minutes.

Northwest couldn't do anything wrong in the game's opening 20 minutes, taking a 58-29 lead into the half. De'Sean Dockery scored 13 and Anderson added 10 to lead the Rangers in the scoring column.

Aston Morton scored six of the Rangers' opening eight points in the second half, helping Northwest bust open a game-high 69-31 lead with 16:46 to play.

Coahoma fought back to within 22 points thanks to a barrage of 3-pointers by Cadarius Cannon, Laterrence Henderson and Da'Quan Forrest. The Tigers, however, never got within 20 the entire second half.

Tyrin Jones, Cody Hanna and Alex Arnold all got in on the action in the game's final 5 minutes, with Arnold scoring a layup with 2:53 remaining to give the Rangers their 100th point.

Behind Anderson's 20 points, Morton, McGee and Dockery all finished with 14 and Jones added 11. Tavion Primer had a career-high eight assists (no turnovers) to go along with seven points and two steals.

All 12 Rangers who dressed out scored in the game.

Willie Brinson scored 18 of his team-high 20 points in the second half, while Forrest and Cannon added 13 and Cameron Monix contributed 10 points and seven assists.

Northwest outshot Coahoma 49-44 percent in the game and won the rebounding and turnover battle.

Northwest will close out the regular season on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. against East Mississippi.
