Lady Rangers, Warriors Play to Scoreless Draw

SENATOBIA – Needing at least a tie against East Central to keep its slim playoff hopes alive, Northwest did just that on Friday afternoon, playing the division-leading Lady Warriors to a scoreless draw in double overtime.

Northwest moved to 3-9-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the division while ECCC moved to 10-2-1 and 5-0-1 in division play.

The Lady Warriors dominated the match from a statistical standpoint, outshooting Northwest 18-5 and drawing six corners.

But sophomore Ashley Nelson was once again superb between the posts, tallying 11 saves in 110 minutes to keep ECCC off the board. It marked Nelson's first clean sheet of the season and 12th of her career.

Northwest's best scoring opportunities came early in the second period from Garrison Pounders and Mary Catherine Hutchens but Kaitlyn Knuth denied both of them a goal.

Northwest will return to the pitch next Friday, Oct. 16 at Itawamba. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
