Lady Rangers Fall to Hinds in Season Finale

SENATOBIA – A goal from Tristan Kitchens in the opening minute of play was the only scoring for Northwest, as the Lady Rangers fell 5-1 to Hinds in Tuesday afternoon's regular season finale.

Hinds outshot the Lady Rangers 21-3, attempting 12 shots-on-goal. With the win, the Lady Eagles improved to 8-7 overall and 5-2 in the MACJC North Division.

Kitchens' goal in the first minute of regulation was her first goal of the season and gave Northwest an early 1-0 advantage. However, Hinds broke the scoreless tie in the sixth minute with a goal from Lauren Smith. Two more goals from Haley Claiborne (19th minute) and Ashlee Maddox (31st minute) gave Hinds a 3-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Hinds extended its lead, thanks to back-to-back penalty kicks from Claiborne in the 64th minute, putting the Lady Eagles ahead 5-1.

Sophomore keeper Ashley Nelson finished with seven saves for the Lady Rangers, bringing her season total to 117. She finishes her Northwest career with 252 total saves, the most since 2010 and unofficially the most in school history.

Northwest concludes the season with a 3-11-3 overall record and a 1-6-1 division mark.
