Casey, Dulin Named Top 200 JUCO Prospects by Perfect Game

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Freshman outfielder Clay Casey (right) and sophomore infielder Dalton Dulin (left) of Northwest Community College are ranked the 41st and 97th best prospects on Perfect Game's Top 200 JUCO prospects list released Wednesday afternoon.

A 6-foot-3, 215-pound product of DeSoto Central, Casey helped lead the Jaguars to the Class 6A state championship series for the first time in school history and the Region 1-6A title last season. He hit .464 with eight doubles, three triples, a state-best 14 home runs, 47 RBIs and 43 runs scored.

Casey was a 2014 Perfect Game Second Team All-American and named a Louisville Slugger preseason All-American. He also earned Perfect Game All-Southeast Region First Team and All-USA team honors in addition to being named a Gatorade Player of the Year finalist.

Casey originally signed with Ole Miss, but decided to come to Northwest and play for one season to improve his draft stock after being selected in the 33rd round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals.

Dulin (5-10/175) saw action in 38 games at second base last season at Ole Miss, helping the Rebels claim the SEC West championship, Oxford Regional championship and advance to the College World Series for the first time since 1972. He hit .264 with seven RBIs, six runs scored, six stolen bases and fielded .978 in 45 chances.

Dulin lettered five years at Memphis University School under head coach Johnny Beard and was named an UnderArmour and Louisville Slugger All-American. He hit .370 with 12 doubles, four triples, two home runs, 26 RBIs and 38 runs scored as a senior and was named a 2012 Gatorade Player of the Year finalist for Tennessee.

Like Casey, Dulin has also been drafted previously, selected in the 36th round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies organization.

Northwest has had 16 players drafted in its history, including 10 since 2006. The Rangers had a school-record four players drafted in 2013, including the 46th overall pick in All-American Cody Reed (Horn Lake HS).

Northwest will throw out the first pitch of the 2015 season on Monday, Feb. 9 at Southwest Tennessee.
