OXFORD – Senior catcher/first baseman Jack McClure of Oxford High School has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for head coach Mark Carson and Northwest Community College next season.

"McClure is exceptional behind the plate and has a really big bat," assistant coach Bill Selby said. "Batting from the left side of the plate will obviously play in our park. With the way junior college doubleheaders go, it's very important to get a guy like Jack. We expect him to come in and contribute immediately."

Highly recruited out of Oxford, McClure hit .383 with 11 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 35 RBIs as a junior. He had an impressive .544 on-base percentage and .963 fielding percentage in 214 chances.

McClure (6-1/195) also saw time on the mound, going 3-1 with a save and 4.20 ERA in seven appearances.

Oxford finished 26-10 last season under head coach Chris Baughman, advancing to the north half championship before falling to eventual state champion, New Hope.
