MADISON – Senior infielder/pitcher Chance Cotton of Germantown High School has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for head coach
Mark Carson and Northwest Community College next season.
"We saw Chance in a showcase, and as far as power potential, we feel he could do big things with his swing," longtime assistant coach
Bill Selby said. "He's a corner infielder who's pitched some too, but we expect his bat to come in and contribute immediately."
Cotton (6-0/195) hit .315 with seven doubles, two triples and five home runs to lead the Mavericks to the second round of the 5A State Playoffs. He drove in 27 runs and scored 20 more.
Cotton, who could also see time on the mound in late innings for the Rangers in 2016, was 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 32.2 innings of work.
