Lafayette's Hunter Bishop Signs with Rangers

OXFORD – Senior outfielder Hunter Bishop of Lafayette High School has signed a national letter of intent to play baseball for head coach Mark Carson and Northwest Community College next season.

"Hunter is an athletic outfielder that we're fortunate to get early," assistant coach Bill Selby said. "He has a good swing and is a high character kid. He's a better than average runner that fits our system with his bat and also has the athleticism to steal bases."

Bishop (6-0/185) hit a solid .438 last season for the Commodores with three doubles, two triples, two home runs and 24 RBIs. He also scored 22 runs with a .518 on-base percentage.

A four-year starter for LHS, Bishop was named to the 2014 Division 2-4A First Team and earned Offensive Player of the Year honors. He was also named a Div. 2-4A Super 20 selection as a sophomore.
