LCHS' Kailey Walker Headed to Northwest

LAKE CORMORANT – Senior outfielder and speedster Hailey Walker of Lake Cormorant High School signed her national letter of intent on Thursday to continue her softball career at Northwest Community College.

"Kailey is an athlete that I expect to hit full stride in the next two years," second-year assistant coach Carie Dever Boaz said. "She has a ton of speed and can cover the entire outfield grass. I expect her to break the stolen base record. She also has a gun for an arm."

A First Team All-DeSoto County selection as a junior, Walker hit .337 (as a slapper) with seven doubles, four triples, two home runs and 13 RBIs. She also scored 26 runs and stole 14 bases.

The Lady Gators finished 26-3-1 and advanced to the third round of the 5A State Playoffs.

Mike Rowan is the head softball coach at Northwest and enters his 12th year with the program in 2015.
