CLINTON – Sophomore infielder
Tanner Densford has signed a grant-in-aid to play baseball for head coach Brian Owens and Mississippi College next season.
Densford started in 49 total games over his two seasons at Northwest, including 30 games in his sophomore season. He finished his Ranger career hitting .253 with 29 RBIs and six doubles, while also collecting nine stolen bases on 10 attempts.
A native of Olive Branch, Densford also spent some time on the mound, pitching in 17 games for his career and posting a 5-0 record with a 1.49 ERA. He scattered 34 strikeouts over 42.1 innings, only giving up seven walks.
Prior to Northwest, Densford was an honors graduate at Lewisburg High School for head coach Rusty Cagle, helping the Patriots to a 26-12 record and state runner-up finish his senior year.
"I'm really excited about my commitment to play for Mississippi College," Densford said. "I know they have a great baseball program and a great education program as well. I'm blessed to be able to continue my dream of playing baseball at a four-year school."
Densford will join long-time teammate
Tyler Scholl, who signed with the Choctaws on June 18.
