Hollenbach, King Give Commitment to Memphis

MEMPHIS – A total of three Northwest Rangers will be in uniform for the University of Memphis next season, with outfielder Kramer Hollenbach and infielder Taylor King each committing last week to join the Tigers in addition to Matt Ferguson who signed back in November.

The trio make it 11 total sophomores from this year's class who have committed or signed with a four-year program. There's also a possibility for one or two more in the coming weeks.

Hollenbach (Arlington, Tenn./Arlington HS) finished his career on a 42-game reached base streak, and in two seasons, reached safely in 76 of 88 games. This season, he had a .414 average and ranked third in Region 23 with 63 hits, including 19 multi-hit and 11 multi-RBI games.

A two-time all-state selection and a 2014 NJCAA All-Region selection, Hollenbach hit .375 for his career with 21 doubles, six home runs, 71 RBIs and 27 stolen bases. He ends his Ranger career ninth in school history with 111 hits while slugging .514, fielding .962 and carrying a .426 on-base percentage.

King (Water Valley, Miss./Water Valley) hit .359 on the year with 16 doubles (second-most in a single-season), two triples, seven home runs and 36 RBIs. He added 40 runs scored and a new single-season school record 17 hit-by-pitches. His recruiting heated up late in the season after he hit .510 (26-for-51) in the month of April with five doubles, four home runs, 19 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

The 2014 second team all-state nod played in 75 career games with 69 starts and hit .313 with 22 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 53 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He slugged .528 for his career with 32 extra-base hits.
