GOODMAN – Sophomores
Taylor King and
Domenick Carlini of Northwest have been named the MACJC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, March 31 through Sunday, April 6.
The weekly honor marks the second time in both King's and Carlini's career to earn the award.
King, the Rangers' third baseman from Water Valley, hit .692 (9-for-13) for the week with a double, three RBIs and five runs scored. He slugged .769 with a .750 on-base percentage.
Carlini, a left-hander from Nesbit, went 1-0 with a complete game and a save and posted a 0.00 ERA in two appearances last week. In 8.0 innings, he struck out 13 against two walks and allowed just two hits and no runs at Itawamba and at Northeast. With five strikeouts at Northeast in relief, Carlini became just the ninth player in school history with 100+ strikeouts in a career.
The two will now be considered for NJCAA Player/Pitcher of the Week honors to be released late Wednesday.
Winners in 9 of 12 overall, Northwest returns to action on Wednesday, April 9 at Holmes.
